What My Patients Say
Specialist Diagnostic Assessment
Accurate diagnosis is essential in managing heart symptoms and long-term cardiac risk. Dr Hussain offers Consultant-led interpretation of core cardiac investigations, ensuring each test is selected and reviewed based on individual symptoms and clinical need. Whether assessing palpitations, unexplained breathlessness, chest pain, or monitoring an existing condition, testing is structured to provide clarity, reassurance, and guidance on evidence-based next steps.

Key Cardiac Tests Offered
Below are the most common tests used to assess heart rhythm, structure, and cardiovascular performance as part of private cardiology care.
ECG (Electrocardiogram)
A painless, non-invasive test that records the heart’s electrical activity through small chest and limb electrodes. An ECG can identify rhythm problems, signs of previous heart damage, and other important electrical changes. Often the first step in evaluating cardiac symptoms.
Holter or Ambulatory Rhythm Monitoring
Portable heart monitors worn for 24 hours or longer to continuously record the heart rhythm during normal activities. Useful for palpitations, dizziness, or blackout symptoms that do not occur reliably during a standard ECG.
Echocardiogram (Heart Ultrasound)
A scan that uses ultrasound to visualise the heart’s chambers, valves, and pumping function. Echocardiography helps diagnose valve disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy and provides essential information for long-term monitoring.
Stress Testing
A controlled assessment of how the heart performs during physical exertion, typically using a treadmill or exercise bike. Stress testing helps identify reduced blood flow to the heart muscle and may also be performed as a medication-based (pharmacological) alternative where exercise is not suitable.
Cardiac CT & MRI
Advanced imaging scans offering detailed information on heart structure, muscle health, and blood vessels. Cardiac CT can assess coronary artery disease, while MRI provides high-resolution imaging of heart tissue, scarring, and function.
Implantable Loop Recorder (LINQ Device)
An implantable loop recorder is a small cardiac monitoring device inserted just under the skin to continuously record heart rhythm over months or years. It is particularly useful for investigating unexplained blackouts, dizziness, or intermittent palpitations that are not captured on short-term monitoring. The LINQ device allows long-term rhythm detection, supporting accurate diagnosis and informed management of suspected arrhythmias.
Blood Tests & Cardiovascular Biomarkers
Blood tests evaluate cholesterol, markers of inflammation, cardiac injury (such as troponin), and metabolic risk factors. Results are interpreted alongside clinical history and imaging to establish overall cardiovascular risk and guide management.
24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring
Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring records blood pressure at regular intervals over 24 hours while you go about daily activities. It provides a more accurate picture than a single clinic reading and helps diagnose hypertension, assess treatment response, and identify white-coat or masked high blood pressure.
Coronary Angiography
A specialist procedure used to visualise the coronary arteries by injecting contrast dye during X-ray imaging. Coronary angiography identifies narrowing or blockages that may be responsible for chest pain or reduced heart function and helps guide decisions about further treatment.
Coronary Stenting
Where significant coronary artery narrowing is identified, a stent may be inserted during angiography to restore normal blood flow. This minimally invasive procedure helps relieve symptoms such as angina and reduces future cardiac risk when clinically appropriate.
DC Electrical Cardioversion
A controlled, short procedure used to restore normal rhythm in conditions such as atrial fibrillation. A brief, precisely timed electrical shock is delivered under sedation, allowing the heart to reset to a regular rhythm. It can be an effective option when medication alone is insufficient.

Why Consultant-Led Diagnostic Testing Matters
Diagnostic tests are most valuable when requested and interpreted by a specialist who understands the full clinical context. You may be recommended for testing if you:
- Have symptoms such as chest pain, palpitations, dizziness or breathlessness
- Require assessment for an existing heart condition
- Need specialist confirmation of a diagnosis or treatment plan
- Want clarity on long-term cardiovascular risk
- Prefer proactive monitoring rather than waiting until symptoms worsen
